Outdoor Photography Freedom Park, Charlotte
This sweet brother and sister portrait was done at Freedom Park in Charlotte, NC. The park is considered one of Charlotte's treasures with 98 acres of gorgeous landscaping and a 7 acre lake that lends itself perfectly to photography. It has so many areas that are good choices, but time of day is what dictates the best light.
As always, I prefer to photograph in the early morning, especially in the summer months before the heat of the day sets in. Each time I visit Freedom Park, I find it to be a little different and on this visit I spotted hydrangeas in bloom that I really wanted to include in the background. The mature crepe myrtle was perfect for the photograph, it gave the children a place to settle. The light filtered in gently for some soft portrait lighting on the children and the resulting photograph looked very natural and pleasing.
